Des Moines – Masterplan

SPRING 2008 Objectives The studio objectives include the treatment of Marine View Drive as a traditional ‘Main Street’, generating pedestrian activity at the waterfront, reinforcing the  historic theater block and emphasizing the character of Des Moines by public artwork installations.

SPRING 2008 227th Street The 227th and Marine View Drive intersection shows potential for enhanced experiences of Des Moines, for both vehicular traffic entering downtown from south and future pedstrians.  This proposal shows closed street and consolidated properties, paved public plaza, public art as water feature, outdoor seating with view of marina and landscaping.

SPRING 2008 Marina The marina is one of Des Moines greatest assets.  Goals include: connecting park activities to marina activity, increasing community use of marina, integrating public art to landscape, providing more green to the area, introducing community activity generators and suggesting multi-purpose parking spaces that enhance daily life and functions well for special occasions.
